  Michael Scott

A professional snowboarder in British Columbia for eight years, Scott dedicated himself to painting when he returned to Ontario and reacquainted himself with friends Travis and Bewabon Shilling; the sons of famous Canadian painter Arthur Shilling.

Over the past few years, Scott’s figurative paintings have evolved into highly considered art works that go beyond representation to examine inner life. His landscapes are similarly intense studies that transcend surface features and present the environment within the framework of mood.

Along with the Shilling compound at Rama, Scott has shown his works at galleries throughout Ontario, and British Columbia. His work has attracted collectors from across Canada.

“The best thing to do always is just keep painting,” he says of his process, “…through all moods, all highs, all lows, with money, without money… your attitude about it is everything.”

“Art is faith… not an idol, but still a faith.”
