Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Sharon MacKinnon
summered at the French River before settling
on the Georgian Bay with her Family. Both
“homes” continue to play an integral role in
her expressions of the Canadian landscape.
Sharon
received her Master of Education from the
University of Toronto and has over 25 years
of teaching experience. She is an elected
member of the Society of Canadian Artists
and the Ontario Society of Artists and the
founding education chairperson of the
Huronia School of Arts. She especially
enjoys painting and sketching “ en plein
air” from her kayak. |

Sharon has
kayaked in Greenland, rafted in Costa Rica,
hiked in mountains in New Zealand, skied the
Rockies, biked Rottenest island, Australia,
and raced a masters world cup in skate
skiing in Lake Placid. Her goal is to kayak
all oceans and only the Antarctic remains.
Her sketchbook and paints always travel with
her!
Sharon paints
in encaustic, acrylic and watermedia, her
paintings are rich in colour, texture and
spontaneity. Her paintings are collected
internationally and have recently been
presented to the Canadian Embassies in
Vietnam, Cambodia and South Africa and the
High Commissions in India and Sri Lanka.
