May 10 through
May 20
Bracebridge’s Silver
Bridge Gallery ushers in the planting season with “The
Secret Garden,” a group show celebrating the beauty of
gardens through art.
Beginning May 10, sculptors such as Cathy Mark and Derek
Green, whose work represents the two- and
three-dimensional ability of hard metal to evoke tree
and animal forms, will join Kitras Glass Studios, local
folk-art carver Andrea Turnbull and Port Sydney potter
Antje Lentze in a show of art that is garden-ready and
also suitable for decorating interiors.
New to the gallery are sculptors David Lesser, known for
his humorous takes on nature, and |

Gail Chavenelle, whose
wide range of figurative and floral work puts a romantic
spin on stainless or rusted steel. They join the studios
of Arte Vargas, which makes hanging glass hummingbirds,
and that of Cheryl Ellis, whose concrete orbs can
beautify the garden year-round.
“The Secret Garden” promises to reveal all of its
treasures, from Lentze’s bird baths to funky glass
sculpture from Kitras and shaped steel pieces from new
and established gallery artists. Look for garden
benches, trellises, handmade pot plants and bird feeders
to enhance your outdoor spaces, and sculptural work that
can be used indoors or out.
“The Secret Garden” is on view until May 20, just in
time for spring planting.
